the adventure starts with you

TELL US ABOUT you and your ideal adventure

We believe that the first step in designing custom tours is understanding the goals and needs of the traveler: you.  Whether you are the one going on the adventure or the one responsible for planning it, no detail is too small to incorporate. Our own travel history tells us that most travelers are looking to blend activities and themes to get the most out of their time in a new destination. We’ll ask your interest in hiking, boating, museums, food, wine, local culture, and more in order to put the pieces in the right place. OUR SERVICES ARE GEARED TOWARD: independent travelers, corporate groups, conference and meeting planners, pre- and post-cruise, and travel agents.

Independent Travelers

You are really where it all begins. A couple. A family. A few friends, traveling together, meeting in Portland for an adventure. An annual reunion – or your entire wedding party. If you’re planning a personal adventure in the Pacific Northwest, we’re here to help you choose the experiences that are right for you, on the timeline that suits the experience, not a schedule created around our operational needs. And, if you’re the one who’s taken on the challenge of coordinating for the larger group, impress them all with a seamless experience – we won’t tell.

Corporate Groups

Now more than ever with proliferating work-from-home arrangements full of Teams and Zoom meetings, folks who work together need opportunities to socialize and create the personal relationships that enable professional success. Employees want to feel a sense of community, and that they’re valued as part of your team. Many have come through rough times in the name of your organization in the pandemic era, and it’s time for a treat. We manage logistics and destination needs for 5, 35, 105, and more. Whether it’s a one-day fun-day, or you’re convening big annual meetings in the Portland region, you’ll definitely need an Adventure Day to blow off some steam.

All of our destinations are appropriate for your off-site events, and all can be tailored to suit your team – its size, its values, and its interests. Winery and brewery tours are crowd-pleasers, but a little time in nature can also do wonders to clear the mind – pairing the two sends everyone home happy and refreshed. For smaller groups, active pursuits like whitewater rafting, kayaking, or paddle-boarding might do the trick. Or try something unique and maybe off-brand, like axe-throwing? The list is endless, and we’re here to help.

Conference & Meeting Planners

Adventure Day Touring is a member of Meeting Planners International’s Oregon Chapter and is a participant as a Supplier at the Cascadia Educational Conference. We’re pleased to manage your off-site activities whether you’re preparing a brewery tour for the executive team or a rafting trip for 100, and whether your clients are in sharp downtown digs or in the conference center at an airport hotel.

We are comfortable with planner-pays and participant-pays models and are prepared to be your partner in the collaborative process of conference planning. Choose an experienced touring partner who can efficiently and reliably execute your quality off-site programs. You’ve got dozens of elements and vendors to manage – let Adventure Day Touring be the easy one.

Pre- and Post-Cruise

The Adventure Day Touring team has extensive experience in the cruise industry. Our founder worked five years on small cruise ships in Southeast Alaska, Mexico’s Sea of Cortes, and right here in the Pacific Northwest, cruising along the Columbia and Snake Rivers. More recently, we have served groups disembarking for the day in nearby Astoria, managed shore excursions for Silversea Cruises, and Portland city tours for Uncruise Adventures. We have been involved in Portland pre- and post-cruise tours for Lindblad Expeditions since 2012.

Whether you are a small group of family or friends making plans for the days before or after your Columbia River Cruise, or an agent booking group travel for a port stop, we know where you’re coming from, and understand the quirks of coordinating with the dynamic nature of your cruise ship. We can provide a quick city orientation before dropping you at the airport, take you to our not-to-be-missed wine country for a day, or head to the High Desert for a multi-day itinerary including Crater Lake National Park. Cruise travel can be particular – share your particulars with us, and we’ll get to work crafting your custom pre- or post-cruise adventure!

Adventure Day Touring works seamlessly with Uncruise Adventures, Lindblad Expeditions, American Queen Steamboat Company, American Cruise Lines, and if you’re on a big ship making a port call in Astoria, we’ve got you covered there, too.

Travel Agents

Every tour provider says they want to hear from you, but do they really? You’ve got clients with specific desires, and they don’t always fit into the set-departure framework that drives most tour providers, who want – even need – to focus on one-size-fits-most tours. Even if your clients settle into a common tour product, Adventure Day Touring will work with you to build an itinerary from the ground up. We’re happy to be a piece of your larger self-drive programs with private tours, step-on guide service, recommended joinable tours, and as a supportive partner to guide you through the local peculiarities that are necessary to produce the right itinerary the first time. Ok, maybe the second time. We understand.

Roads close. Restaurants open. Wineries go reservation-only. Rush-hour conflicts are not always predictable, and festivals, marathons, and sporting events make some trips inadvisable on some dates. Let us be your eyes and ears on the ground, creating happy clients with our final product and happy agents with transparent communication and timely itinerary turn-around.
